Clinical oversight behind every visit
Personal care at Living Assistance Services is overseen by a registered nurse. Our nursing team designs the care plan, trains and guides our caregivers, and stays in contact with your family and health providers. When needs change, the plan changes with them.
Personal support works well alongside other home care services, including live-in care when continuous support is needed. We also coordinate with Ontario Health atHome when care is partially funded through the public system.
Why families choose Living Assistance Services for personal care
As part of the Integracare family, we have served Ontario families for over 35 years. We hold ISO 9001:2015 certification, an Excellence Canada award, and Great Place to Work Certification — standards that translate directly into how our caregivers show up at your door.
Our personal support workers are trained through Nevvon, screened through Vulnerable Sector checks, and backed by a registered nurse they can reach at any time. We match each caregiver to the client by experience, schedule, and personality, so care stays consistent and familiar.

Frequently asked questions about personal care at home
What does personal care at home include?
Personal care covers the hands-on help a person needs with daily living: bathing, showering, dressing, grooming, toileting and continence care, transfers and mobility, medication reminders, and meal assistance. A registered nurse builds the plan so it fits the person's actual needs and adjusts it as things change.
How do caregivers help with bathing and dressing while preserving dignity?
Our caregivers are trained specifically in personal care techniques that respect privacy and personal preference. They follow the individual's lead, work at their pace, and communicate clearly throughout. The registered nurse sets out the approach in the care plan so every visit feels consistent and respectful.
Can a PSW help with medication reminders?
Yes. Our personal support workers provide medication reminders as part of the care plan. They remind the client to take prescribed medications at the right time and note any refusals or concerns for the nursing team to follow up on. They do not administer medications — that requires a nurse.
Is there a minimum number of hours for personal care visits?
We offer flexible scheduling tailored to each client. A care advisor will discuss the schedule options that fit your situation when you book your free in-home assessment. Call 1.855.483.2273 for details.
What is the difference between personal care and companionship services?
Personal care is hands-on physical assistance: bathing, dressing, grooming, mobility, toileting, and medication reminders. Companionship focuses on social engagement, conversation, and light activities to reduce isolation. Many clients receive both as part of a combined care plan.
