Our approach

Care built around comfort and dignity

Every plan centres on the person at home: their comfort, the clinical care our nurses provide, and steady support for the family.

Comfort First

We ease pain, anxiety, and difficult symptoms, and bring calm and routine to each day at home.

Nursing-Led

A Registered Nurse or Registered Practical Nurse builds the plan and guides every caregiver.

Support for Families

We care for the whole family, with guidance, respite, and someone to call at any time.

What we provide

What our in-home palliative care includes

Every plan is built around the person and adjusts as needs change. Depending on the situation, palliative care at home may include:

  • Personal care such as bathing, dressing, and mobility support
  • Comfort and symptom monitoring, escalated to a nurse
  • Medication reminders and help following the care plan
  • Meal preparation and gentle encouragement to eat
  • Companionship and emotional support
  • Respite so family caregivers can rest
  • Overnight and live-in care for continuous support
  • Coordination with your physicians and hospice team

Nursing-led care

A nurse guiding every step

Palliative care at Living Assistance Services is overseen by a Registered Nurse or Registered Practical Nurse. Our nursing team builds the care plan, guides our caregivers, and stays in close contact with your family and your health providers.

Palliative care often works alongside our other home care services, including personal care, live-in care, and nursing care. When care is arranged through the public system, we work with Ontario Health atHome so support stays coordinated.

Why families choose us

Trusted, consistent care through a serious illness

As part of the Integracare family, we have cared for Ontario families for over 35 years. Families choose us for our nursing oversight, our carefully chosen caregivers, and the consistency that matters most during a difficult time.

Our caregivers are certified, experienced, and screened through Vulnerable Sector Screening, and they are supported by ongoing training and a nurse they can call at any time.

Good to know

Frequently asked questions

Is palliative care the same as end-of-life care?

No. Palliative care can begin at any stage of a serious illness to ease symptoms and improve quality of life. End-of-life care is one part of palliative care, provided in a person's final months, weeks, or days.

Can palliative care be provided at home?

Yes. We provide palliative care in private homes, retirement residences, and long-term care settings, wherever the person is most comfortable.

Do you work with our doctors and hospice team?

Yes. We coordinate with physicians, community nurses, Ontario Health atHome, and hospice teams, so care at home fits the medical plan.

Can palliative care be combined with other home care?

Yes. Palliative care is often combined with personal support, nursing care, or live-in care as needs change.

How quickly can palliative care start?

In most cases we can begin within 24 to 48 hours of your first call, starting with a consultation and a nursing assessment.
