Nursing oversight behind every care plan

Every live-in care plan at Living Assistance Services is developed and overseen by a registered nurse. Our nursing team assesses the client at home, builds the care plan, guides caregivers day to day, and stays in contact with your family and health providers. Caregivers are trained through Nevvon, screened through Vulnerable Sector Screening, and supported by a nurse they can reach at any time.

Live-in care pairs naturally with other services such as personal care and palliative care, and it scales as needs change. Start your care plan with a free in-home assessment from our nursing team.

Why families choose us

Why families choose Living Assistance Services for live-in care

As part of the Integracare family, we have cared for Ontario seniors for over 35 years. We hold ISO 9001:2015 certification, Excellence Canada recognition, and Great Place to Work Certification, and we work alongside Ontario Health atHome when publicly funded care is in place.

Our caregivers are chosen for experience, reliability, and temperament, then matched carefully to each client. They are backed by ongoing training and a nurse who is available around the clock. Families tell us that consistency matters most: the same caregiver, the same routine, and a team they can call.

Good to know

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between live-in care and 24-hour shift care?

With live-in care, one caregiver stays in the home full time. They sleep there and are available during the night, though they are entitled to a sleep break of several hours. With 24-hour shift care, two or three caregivers rotate in shifts so there is always someone awake. Live-in care costs less and suits people who are stable overnight; shift care suits those who need frequent nighttime assistance.

Where does the live-in caregiver sleep?

The caregiver needs a private bedroom in the home. This does not need to be a large room, but it should be a separate space with a door. We discuss the home setup with you during the free assessment so we can match a caregiver who fits comfortably.

What does a live-in caregiver do each day?

A live-in caregiver provides personal care such as bathing and dressing, prepares meals, assists with mobility, gives medication reminders, keeps the home tidy, and offers companionship throughout the day. Overnight they are available if the client wakes and needs help. The exact duties are set out in the care plan built with our nursing team.

How is live-in care priced compared with hourly care?

Live-in care is typically priced on a daily or weekly rate rather than by the hour. For clients who need many hours of support each day, this often works out to less than paying hourly rates for equivalent coverage. We will walk you through the costs during the free assessment so you can compare options clearly.

Is live-in care a good option for someone with dementia?

Yes, often it is the best option. People living with dementia benefit from routine and a familiar face, and a live-in caregiver provides both. Our caregivers are trained in dementia care and supported by a registered nurse who monitors the plan and guides the caregiver on any changes in behaviour or needs.
