Homecare is something that many families rely on each and every week, particularly if their aging loved ones have physical and/or cognitive limitations that impact their ability to live independently. Our skilled, compassionate Personal Support Workers (PSWs) are dedicated to helping seniors live safely and comfortably in their own homes for as long as possible, offering highly personalized care services that reflect each client’s needs and preferences.
While many of our clients receive care on a weekly, daily or 24/hr schedule, there are also families who require homecare services on a less consistent basis. This often happens when family caregivers are typically present throughout the week, but occasionally unavailable due to travel, their own health or other factors.
If you’re planning on travelling over the holiday season or taking a vacation later this winter, please contact us to learn more about respite care. We’d be pleased to provide all of the information you need and help match your family with a fantastic caregiver.
Providing care and peace of mind
If you assist an aging parent or other loved one with personal care, medication reminders, meal preparation, housework or other daily tasks, it can be difficult to travel—and when you do get away, you may be distracted with thoughts of your loved one’s well-being. Remember—your vacation shouldn’t result in stress or guilt! Respite care provides exceptional support for seniors while ensuring peace of mind for their family. You can enjoy your time away knowing that your loved one is in good hands: safe, healthy and well supported by our exceptional PSWs.
Our caregivers can assist with personal care (bathing, dressing, oral hygiene, toileting, etc) as well as nutritional support, medication reminders, light housekeeping and more. They also provide joyful companionship, which may involve playing card games, reading aloud to seniors, accompanying them on walks, or simply sharing conversation over a cup of tea. Because every client is different, we make a point to follow their lead—some seniors enjoy lively company while others prefer quiet companionship. In any case, our caregivers will be there to provide skilled, dedicated support that’s offered with kindness and respect.

Caring for your aging loved ones is an honour, but it’s also a significant responsibility. Taking time away can help family caregivers avoid burnout while spending time with other important people in their lives: a spouse, children, friends and other loved ones. It’s also an opportunity for some valuable, restorative alone time if that’s what you need. (No matter how much we love our families, we all need a bit of alone time!)
Respite care is also a great way to introduce professional support to an aging loved one who may need weekly or daily care in the future. We always appreciate client referrals to family and friends.
