About Us
When company director David Porter’s mother was no longer able to look after herself, he was faced with the difficult decision of either placing her in a nursing facility or finding some way to help her stay in her beloved home. As Porter (a Certified Senior Advisor) searched for the right fit, he discovered that locating qualified caregivers who were kind, knowledgeable, and reasonably affordable was an almost impossible task. That was 1997. Three years later, he founded Living Assistance Services and today families have greater choices when it comes to caring for loved ones who can no longer look after themselves. Living Assistance Services prides itself on being the first to provide highly personal care for those who wish to stay in their own homes rather than be placed in an institutional environment. The company can also arrange to visit loved ones in hospitals, retirement residences, and any other facility on a full- or part-time basis. These caregivers are able to live with the one in need, or visit on an as-required basis. Living Assistance Services is exacting when it comes to hiring caregivers. For every 150 who apply, only one or two will be asked to join the company. That translates into professional, compassionate, intelligent caregivers who stay with Living Assistance Services for years, not months, as is the industry standard. It’s no wonder that Living Assistance Services’ clients come through referrals from those who have already had a positive experience with the company. Living Assistance Services’ mandate to build relationships with care recipients and their families means that everyone who works with the company is on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week. As well as top-notch caregivers, Living Assistance Services can provide registered nursing care, chiropodists, physiotherapy and esthetics (massage, hair styling, etc.) After almost a decade, Porter’s goal remains unchanged: Offer a service that is largely unavailable from other agencies at a standard no less than he would personally expect for his own mother. “The quality of our caregivers is what differentiates us from everyone else.”
